The Gathering Source received a grant for $42,000.00 from the Walmart Foundation to purchase a truck (shown) for “Bridging the Rural Food Gap.” Exective director Laurel Lunde reports, “Walmart as well as the Walmart Foundation continues to focus on the betterment of its communities with an emphasis on fighting hunger. Bridging the Rural Food Gap has a simple mission of increasing access to a variety of foods (especially fresh produce and frozen goods) for rural food pantries serving Dodge, Columbia, Jefferson and portions of Dane County. This program would not be possible without the generosity of Walmart.”
